6 Years Ago, ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Introduced the Character That Changed Steffy Forrester Forever

Back in 2020, fans of The Bold and the Beautiful were excited when rumors began to swirl that Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) would be getting a new love interest and no longer stuck in the then-never-ending love triangle between her step-sister Hope Logan (Anika Noelle) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). Thus, on July 23, 2020, fans were over the moon when actor Tanner Novlan debuted as Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan.

Finn’s introduction story saw the doctor take care of Steffy following a motorcycle accident. The two are instantly attracted to one another. Finn remains professional and helps Steffy navigate her recovery, and can help Steffy when she develops an addiction to her pain pills.

Over the years, Finn’s stories would see the character fleshed out. For his whole life, Finn believed he was adopted by his father, Jack (Ted King), and Li (Naomi Matsuda). Still, it was ultimately revealed that his whole life had been a lie, and that Jack was actually his biological father, and his biological mother was the infamous Sheila Carter.

Finn would go on to be shot by his mother and believed to be dead, only to be revealed that his adoptive mother Li was taking care of him, as the story continued. Amid many twists and turns, it was also revealed that Finn had a child of his own, Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada), whom he fathered with his adoptive aunt, Poppy Nozawa (Romy Park).

Back in October of 2020, Wood’s spoke with Jeevan Brar of The TV Watercooler about working with Novlan, “For years everyone wanted a new love interest for Steffy, especially with Liam flip flopping, so it’s very exciting. For Steffy there’s just something very familiar about him; he feels like he’s home, and he obviously has seen her at her worst, so they’re just extremely real with one another, and they’re having real conversations about what they want, and he wants to get serious.”
