‘80s Supermodel Says She Has ‘Nowhere to Live’ Days Before Wedding
Paulina Porizkova faces ‘eviction days’ before her Italy wedding, leaving her and fiance Jeff Greenstein without a place to live as they start over in their 60s.
Just days before marrying the love of her life in Italy, former supermodel Paulina Porizkova says she suddenly has an unexpected problem. She and her fiancé will have nowhere to live after their wedding.
The former ’80s fashion icon revealed that she is being forced to leave the New York apartment she loves only days before her wedding. This leaves the couple scrambling during what should be one of the happiest times of their lives.
Porizkova and her fiancé, Jeff Greenstein, opened up about the situation during an episode of her podcast, Twenty Good Summers.
One reason Porizkova is feeling so emotional about the move is that the apartment holds great sentimental value for her. She explained, “It’s been the first place since I was 19 years old that was mine…That I got to decorate myself without making any compromises.”
Porizkova admitted the situation feels especially emotional because both she and Greenstein are essentially starting over in their 60s. Blending their lives while unexpectedly losing the home where she rebuilt herself after the divorce has been a struggle.
She added that this particular apartment “has kept me safe and [it’s] where I’ve sort of grown up to be a woman, I feel.”
Porizkova was previously married to Ric Ocasek, the frontman for the Cars, who died in 2019.
Porizkova explained, “We’re kind of getting evicted because my landlord did not want to, no matter how great of a tenant I was for six years, he didn’t really want to give us an extension on the lease, even though I begged and pleaded.”
The couple acknowledged that they technically have options, but none feel ideal.
As difficult as the situation has been, Porizkova also admitted she believes in fate. She shared that she feels “This is providential…that the universe has a plan for us.” While it is all stressful right now, taking away some of the joy of anticipating her wedding, Porizkova also tells herself that there is a reason it is happening.
The couple also took to Instagram to mention the move, and they received lots of support from followers.
One fan wrote, “A simultaneous wedding and a move — now if you can make it through this, you can make it through anything! Talk about the ultimate relationship test.”
Another fan encouraged the pair to let go of things in the past and “Move presently forward starting with a blank slate to create whatever you both feel together,” adding it was quite exciting.
While the timing could hardly be worse, Porizkova says she is trying to believe the upheaval is happening for a reason. Even amid wedding excitement mixed with uncertainty, fans are rooting for the former supermodel as she begins yet another unexpected chapter.
