A ‘Downton Abbey’ Movie in the Works?! Housemaid Phyllis Baxter Reveals All!
Get excited, Downton Abbey fans, because a movie version of the popular series may be hitting the big screen!
According to the 'Daily Mirror,' plans for a film adaptation of the hit PBS period drama are finally in place.
"There have been talks and there is definitely a possibility of a 'Downton' film," Raquel Cassidy, who plays housemaid Phyllis Baxter, told the publication.
"There is real hope. It’s been mentioned more than once and there’s a lot of commercial and artistic interest. Stranger things have happened, so watch this space," she continued.
A jump to film wouldn't be a far stretch for the show's executives, as series creator Julian Fellowes won the 2001 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for 'Gosford Park.'

When previously asked by 'Digital Spy' whether he would consider bringing the cast of 'Downton' to the big screen, Fellowes said the project would be "great fun," but added it may not happen until the series has finished its run on television.
'Downton' first aired on ITV in the UK in 2010 and premiered on PBS in the US on Jan. 9, 2011. The fifth season of 'Downton Abbey,' which is set to air in January 2015, will be its last.
