Tracker quickly became the No. 1 non-sports show on television when it debuted in February 2024, leading fans to wonder if a season 3 is around the corner. Was the show renewed or canceled by CBS?

Season 1 of ‘Tracker’ Brought in a Record Number of Viewers

After making its season 1 debut following the 2024 Super Bowl, Tracker was quickly renewed for a season 2 in March 2024. It became the No. 1 show on television and swiftly garnered 30 million multiplatform viewers within the first month of its release.

“TRACKER kicked off our premiere week with a ratings bang and has kept the momentum going,” Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, said at the time. “We knew we had something special when we saw the very first cut of the series and the overwhelming audience response confirms it. We couldn’t be more grateful to Justin, the talented cast, the incredible writing and producing teams and our partners at 20th Television for such compelling episodes. And, of course, we’re also so thankful to the millions of viewers tuning in each week.”

The season 1 premiere “amassed 18.4 million viewers and was the most-watched primetime entertainment program since the 2021 debut of THE EQUALIZER also following the Super Bowl.”

Season 2 saw similar success, with CBS announcing that “TRACKER is averaging 18.2 million viewers per episode and MATLOCK 16.9 million per episode, according to VideoAmp broadcast measurement and Paramount internal streaming data.”

Is Tracker Coming Back for Season 3?

Tracker is officially coming back for season 3. After season 2 began airing on CBS with steady viewership, the show was among several that were included in a CBS press release about renewals and offshoots.

“This season, our new and returning series continue to showcase CBS as the leader in launching and programming the biggest hits with mass appeal for broadcast and streaming viewers,” said Reisenbach. “These returning shows represent a mix of long-standing hits and a new generation of fan favorites. In collaboration with our extraordinarily talented partners in front of and behind the camera, we look forward to delivering another successful season.”

Justin Hartley is set to return as Colter Shaw in season 3, which will air during the 2025-2026 broadcast season. A specific premiere date has yet to be released, however, we’re expecting more twists and turns for Colter in the show’s new season.

In a February 2025 video on his Instagram page thanking the cast and crew of the show, Justin hinted that season 3 will be “between 18 and 22” episodes.

“I just wanted to congratulate everyone on season 2; our numbers are up from season 1,” he told his colleagues in the clip. “Something like six percent or eight percent or 11 percent or something like that. That hardly ever happens.”

“It’s all thanks to you guys, and because of all the hard work you’ve done on season 2, they have picked us up for season 3,” Justin continued. His colleagues clapped and celebrated the news with delight.

No further casting updates have been provided at this time. Still, many are hoping to see the return of Fiona Rene as Reenie Greene, as well as Justin’s real-life wife, Sofia Pernas, who plays Billie Matalon.
