Arnold Schwarzenegger and Patrick, 25, Gush About Their ‘Great Friendship’ as Father and Son

He’s starred in a plethora of Hollywood’s biggest hits, but Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s favorite role is dad. The Terminator star recently opened up about being a proud papa in the first-ever interview with son Patrick Schwarzenegger.

“We have a great father-son relationship, and we also have a great friendship,” said the 71-year-old — who is gracing the cover of GQ Germany alongside Patrick, 25, for the June issue. “My vision was to create great kids.”

The dynamic duo looked better than ever as they posed for the cover wearing grungy cowboy hats, jean tops and boots. The magazine’s cover reads “Die Schwarzeneggers” and “Das Erste Vater-Sohn Interview” — which translates to “The Schwarzeneggers, The First Father-Son Interview.”

In their first interview together, Arnold opened up about the special bond that shaped Patrick and his other kids — Katherine Schwarzenegger, 29, Christina Schwarzenegger, 27, Christopher Schwarzenegger and Joseph Baena, both 21 — into who they are. “What I’m proud of is that I could kind of show him the way and he knew that he has all the help in the world from me all the time but that he had to do the work also,” the Predator star sweetly shared.

Even Patrick gushed about how lucky he and his siblings are to have such an amazing father. “My dad has always taught us kids… follow your passion, what you love,” the Scream Queens actor told the publication. “And if you follow those things then ultimately you’re going to be successful.”

The former California governor has proven countless times that he’s one dedicated dad. Arnold most recently celebrated son Joseph’s college graduation. He took to Instagram in late April to share a sweet pic while celebrating his youngest son’s accomplishment.

“Congratulations Joseph!,” the Commando actor wrote in the caption of him and the new grad. “Four years of hard work studying business at Pepperdine and today is your big day! You have earned all of the celebration and I’m so proud of you. I love you!”

Arnold is one doting dad — they’re all lucky to have him.
