Billie Lourd Wishes Late Grandmother Debbie Reynolds a Happy Birthday in Sweet Throwback Post — Take a Look!

On what would’ve been Debbie Reynolds‘ 87th birthday, Billie Lourd took to Instagram to share an oh-so-sweet throwback photo of her and her late grandmother. The Booksmart star pulled on the heartstrings of her more than one million followers as she paid homage to the beloved actress with a fitting tribute.

“Happy birthday abadaba,” the 26-year-old wrote in all-letter emojis, adding the special nickname she called her late grandma. In the pic, a young Billie looked happier than ever as she and the Singin’ in the Rain star posed for the camera. The throwback also featured Billie’s late mother, Star Wars star Carrie Fisher. The Scream Queens actress’ world was shaken when Debbie suddenly passed away after suffering a stroke in December 2016 — just one day after her daughter and Billie’s mom, Carrie, died of a heart attack at the age of 60. Almost a year following the heartbreaking tragedy, Billie candidly opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about adjusting to life following the deaths of both her mom and her grandma.

“It’s completely surreal,” she admitted during a visit on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in September 2017. “There’s no way to really explain it — it’s so hard to talk about. If I say I’m doing good, I’m too happy. If I say I’m not doing good, then I’m a mess. So it’s really hard to know what to say about it because it’s so surreal and impossible to deal with.”

Despite losing the two women closest to her, Billie made sure to look for the silver lining in all the heartbreak. In August 2017, the American Horror Story actress revealed how she has been handling the losses — particularly when it comes to her mom.

“I’ve always kind of lived in their shadows, and now is the first time in my life when I get to own my life and stand on my own,” Billie told Town & Country. “I love being my mother’s daughter, and it’s something I always will be, but now I get to be just Billie.”

The blonde beauty added: “It’s a lot of pressure, because she had such an incredible legacy, and now I have to uphold that and make it evolve in my own way.”
