Bindi Irwin Engaged to Longtime Boyfriend Chandler Powell on 21st Birthday: ‘I Said Yes!’
Congratulations! Steve Irwin‘s daughter, Bindi Irwin, just got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell — and he proposed to her in the most romantic way possible.
“July 24th 2019 ❤️ On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life,” Bindi, newly 21, revealed via Instagram on Wednesday, July 24. “Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love. Now let’s get married already!”

While the couple’s engagement doesn’t exactly come as a surprise, Bindi indicated in a recent interview with Us Weekly that she didn’t consider becoming a married woman her No. 1 priority. In fact, it sounded like she and her beau were just enjoying their time together.
“Right now we’re enjoying our lives together. And you know, as a society, I think we forget to revel in the moment, and revel in the now,” she said at the time. “It’s always, ‘What’s to come next? When are you engaged, married, having kids, retiring?’ So it’s really funny, where we forget to love right now.”
When Chandler talked to People in December 2018, he recalled the day that he met Bindi for the first time and said he instantly fell for her when he took a trip to the zoo. “It just so happened that Bindi was giving tours that day. I’m like, ‘Wow she is amazing.’” he gushed, and added they “hit it off right away.”

Not only that but Chandler admitted they “haven’t looked back since.” Aww! After they got to know each other, Bindi realized that Chandler had a lot of the same qualities that she adored about her father. “He loves wildlife and conservation and he has this strength,” she said. “Which is necessary when you’re jumping on crocs.”
