They may be two of the biggest names in Hollywood, but Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas don’t let their fame and fortune get to their heads. The Mask of Zorro actress revealed that she and her husband do their best to keep their children grounded. “We’ve kind of shielded them away, but they’re incredibly mature for their tender years,” Catherine told ET of her children’s exposure to Hollywood. “They get it, and that’s just a thing [where] I think that I just got lucky.”

The 49-year-old mom to Carys, 15, and Dylan, 18, want her kids to grow up in the most normal setting possible. “They’ve kinda been removed from the crazy world of Hollywood or even the crazy world of Manhattan. The teenagers here in Manhattan, there’s a maturity that comes too quick I think,” she added.

While Catherine and her hubby, Michael, 74, try their best to keep their kiddos humble, she admitted that they are interested in following in their TV star parents’ footsteps. “The other night we had my son on FaceTime saying something about some role and then my daughter, who was auditioning for her school play,” Catherine recalled. “I’m talking about my show, [Douglas’] talking about his show. We both went, like, ‘This is four actors at one table, it’s too much.'”

Being one of Catherine and Michael’s kids sounds as if it would be an easy ticket into Hollywood. However, Carys says otherwise. “I think what bothers me the most is that people think I don’t work hard for it, that I don’t need to work hard for it,” she told Town & Country in August. “Honestly, I feel like it’s the opposite. I feel I need to constantly prove myself to people – that I am not just my parents’ daughter.”

Though acting may not be the route that the couple wants their kids to take, Catherine insisted that she and Michael will always support their children unconditionally. That being said, they have no problem being honest with Carys or Dylan if they didn’t think the teens had “it.”

“We’d be the first to say, ‘I don’t know whether they got it.’ [We wouldn’t] say that blatantly to them, but [we’d] kinda guide them towards something else,” Catherine dished. “But it’s so evidently clear that they have it and they get it. They know it’s a craft. It’s not a quick fix of getting a YouTube show.”

If one thing is for sure, it’s that Catherine feels so blessed to have as great of a relationship with her kids as she does. “I think that’s just Michael and I encouraging that at a very early age and then being around dinner tables where we talk very openly about everything and freely and all that stuff, so I’m very lucky.”
