This summer saw two sad exits from the General Hospital scene as relative newcomers Chris McKenna and Paige Herschell‘s characters, Jack Brennan and Jacinda Bracken, left Port Charles in two very different ways.
Jack’s dead body was found floating in the pool, while Jacinda skipped town after drugging a congresswoman. McKenna has remained pragmatic about his GH gig ending, acknowledging that he has been through this sort of thing before on both daytime and primetime shows. McKenna previously played Detective Mark Harding on The Young and the Restless, and his character was also found dead under mysterious circumstances.
On the latest episode of That’s Awesome, hosted by GH stars Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli), McKenna explained that Herschell had learned about her departure at around the same time, so he made sure to be her moral support because she had never been through a sad set goodbye. In fact, her last day was the day before his.

“I wanted to make sure that Paige got her flowers, and she had her attention and got her send-off appropriately,” the actor said. “I wanted to make sure I hugged her and told her to finish strong.”
McKenna noted the somber mood on the set on his last day, but he also had two other costars to think about, Asher Antonyzyn and Bluesy Burke, who play Danny Morgan and Charlotte Cassadine.
“I’ve been doing this so long, so I wanted to show them how to handle it,” McKenna explained. “When you get bad news, it doesn’t have to devastate you, and it’s not the end of the world, and to make sure everybody’s laughing and having fun.”
