‘Dancing With the Stars’ Pro Peta Murgatroyd Reveals She Wanted to Put Her Wedding to Fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy “on Hold”

It seems wedding bells may not be ringing for Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy anytime soon — well at least if Peta has a say!

The Dancing With the Stars pro dancer opened up about the couple's upcoming nuptials in a new interview — and revealed the special event isn't her top priority right now!

"I tried to put it on hold, to be honest with you," Peta, 30, told People after DWTS on Monday, April 3. "I said, ‘Baby, lets just drop it for a second. We have a child already. Lets just maybe call it quits at engaged.'"

The couple first became an item in 2012 and dated for 10 months before calling it quits. They rekindled their romance in October 2014 and Maks popped the question to Peta in December 2015. The two later welcomed their first child, son, Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy, in January 2017. That said, Maks, 37, can't wait to marry his special lady!

"[Maks] was, like, ‘No! I want to marry you,'" she added. "It was really funny, actually. He had to sort of coax me back into being ready to get married and do all of this stuff because there is so much to do!"

In a previous interview, Maks gushed about the upcoming ceremony. "We have an amazing, amazing space on Long Island, Oheka [Castle]," he said. "It's going to be great."

And even though Peta is super busy being a new mom and competing on Season 24 of DWTS, she's still finding time here and there for wedding planning!

"I’m doing it from over here in LA so it’s a little more stressful, but I do have someone helping," Peta added. "I hope it all comes together in time!" We can't wait for the big day!
