‘Days of Our Lives’ Star Patrick Muldoon Was Reportedly Discovered Unconscious by Girlfriend

Days of Our Lives fans are mourning one of the show’s stars after news broke that Patrick Muldoon died over the weekend — and now his sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, has revealed how his body was discovered.

Muldoon-Zappa, 48, told TMZ on Monday, April 20, that the Starship Troopers star had enjoyed a cup of coffee with his girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, at the home they shared in Beverly Hills before going to take a shower.

After Rothbart noticed that Muldoon was taking longer than usual, she went to check on him. It was here that Muldoon-Zappa said that Rothbart found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. While paramedics arrived on the scene quickly, Muldoon-Zappa told the outlet that there wasn’t anything that could be done to revive him. TMZ later confirmed that he had died at age 57 from a heart attack.

Muldoon got his start with a guest role on Who’s the Boss? in 1990. Two years later, he landed the role of Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives.

The Los Angeles native starred as Austin for nearly 500 episodes of the long-running daytime soap, but in 1995, he decided to pursue other acting roles. That same year, he was cast as bad guy Richard Hart on Melrose Place.

In 1997, he nabbed the role of Zander Barcalow in the cult classic Starship Troopers, and it was on that set that he met ex-girlfriend Denise Richards. The two began dating in 1997 before amicably calling it quits three years later in 2000.

In 2023, he sparked up a relationship with Rothbart and the two were still together as a couple when he passed away.
