Debra Messing in Trouble With NBC After Slamming Megyn Kelly’s ‘Will & Grace’ Interview (REPORT)

Well, this isn’t good. Earlier this week, the Will & Grace cast stopped by Megyn Kelly Today to be interviewed by NBC’s newest star, Megyn Kelly. Following the sit-down, Debra Messing took to Instagram to reveal she was “dismayed” by Megyn’s comments about the show and totally regretted the interview. And now, Debra is allegedly in hot water with the network for criticizing the sit-down with Megyn.

“Debra was told to cut it out by someone high up in the NBC Entertainment division run by Bob Greenblatt, via her agent or publicist,” a network executive revealed to Page Six on Wednesday, Sept. 27. However, the actress’ rep refused to comment on the matter and a source close to Debra later said, “NBC has been nothing but supportive of Debra… No one asked us to do anything.” Watch Megyn’s Will & Grace interview in the video below!

During Megyn’s Will & Grace sit-down — to promote the beloved show’s reboot! — earlier this week, Megyn brought a show superfan onstage to meet the cast. “Is it true that you became a lawyer, and you became gay, because of [Eric’s character] Will?” Megyn asked guest Russell Turner, later adding, “I don’t know about the lawyer thing, but I think that [the] Will & Grace thing and the gay thing is going to work out great.”

Following the interview, people are quick to criticize Megyn’s controversial comments on social media. “And the award for most cringeworthy talk show debut goes to… Megyn Kelly for asking a Will & Grace fan if the show is why they ‘became gay,'” one person wrote with another adding, “Megyn Kelly said ‘the gay thing’ in front of the Will & Grace cast. She’s clueless.”

On Tuesday, Sept. 26, one of Debra’s fans asked the 49-year-old actress why she and her castmates appeared on Megyn’s new show — and Debra held nothing back in her Instagram response. “Honestly I didn’t know it was [Megyn Kelly] until that morning. The itinerary just said Today show appearance. Regret going on. Dismayed by her comments,” she wrote. An NBC insider later defended Megyn’s interview. “It was very much tongue-in-cheek, which was abundantly clear to the ‘superfan’ who was thrilled to be a part of the show and the audience. And it was even clearer when she devoted much of the interview to asking the show’s creators how proud they were of the positive social impact of Will & Grace and the progress it brought about for gay rights,” the source told Page Six.
