Dolly Parton’s Brother Dead at 82 Just One Year After Her Husband Carl Dean’s Death
Dolly Parton has suffered another loss as she mourns the death of her brother a little over a year after losing husband Carl Dean.
Dolly’s brother, Coy “Denver” Parton, died on July 23 at the age of 82, according to an obituary shared by Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville, Tennessee. It did not mention a cause of death.
The obituary stated that Denver worked as a crane operator for several years. He was also a homestead farmer and fan of hunting.
According to the post, Denver was the fifth of Dolly’s siblings to pass away. He was preceded in death by brothers Larry, David, Randy and Floyd.
Denver’s death comes a little more than a year after Dolly lost her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl, who died in March 2025.
The “Jolene” singer, 80, announced the news in a message on Instagram at the time.
“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years,” Dolly shared in a message posted on Instagram at the time. “Thank you for your prayers and sympathy.”
Carl mostly stayed out of the public eye during his marriage to the Steel Magnolias star, and at his time of death, TMZ reported that he had previously been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
