Drew Barrymore Is Proud to Say She’s Totally Moved on From Her Wild Child Days

Actress Drew Barrymore is amazed at the complete 180-degree turnaround she’s made from her wild-child days in the ’80s. Now, she’s more likely to be found cuddling with her two daughters, Olive, 5, and Frankie, 3, than dancing the night away at Studio 54. “I never was home. I was always out and about,” Drew, 42, recalled in a new interview for In Style magazine’s latest issue. “It’s funny because you’d have to take a crowbar, a spatula, and a forklift to get me out of the house now.”

Drew’s childhood was far from traditional. When she was just 11 months old, she landed her first acting job in a commercial for dog food. After making her film debut in 1980’s Altered States, Drew rose to mega-stardom at age seven when she played Gertie in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1982. During her upbringing, Drew also had strained relationships with her parents, John and Jaid Barrymore, and was eventually legally emancipated from her family at age 14.

“From a young age, I was overly passionate and thought everything lived and died in a professional atmosphere because, back then, it was really all I had. I didn’t have a family. I’ve been working as long as I can remember,” Drew told In Style. Today, Drew continues to act while also running her production company, Flower Films, a cosmetics brand, Flower Beauty, and new Amazon Fashion line, “Dear Drew.”

Most importantly, Drew loves being a mom to her two girls, Olive and Frankie, whom she shares with ex-husband Will Kopelman. “They make the whole world totally stand still. They are the love I’ve always wanted to know,” she said of her kids. So sweet!
