Drew Barrymore Shares Photo Of Herself Crying To Prove Not Even Hollywood Can Hide ‘Difficult And Not So Pretty’ Days
Hollywood may be known for its luxury, glitz, and glamour, but according to Drew Barrymore, it’s not always rainbows and butterflies. The Santa Clarita Diet star got extremely candid on Instagram by posting a makeup-free selfie of herself crying on Thursday, Dec. 20 to show fans that everyone has bad days sometimes.
Alongside the photo of her shedding some tears, the award-winning actress posted a snap of herself with a fresh blowout and makeup to the nines. Drew showed the comparison to prove that not even Hollywood can hide days when you feel your lowest. Take a look at the pictures from her Instagram below!
“What I propose [is] some days are great and beautiful,” the 43-year-old wrote in the caption. “Sure, I can be this with two hours of hair and makeup and amazing photography and lighting. I also feel beautiful after a sweaty workout… But it all takes work! Which is good because we can achieve it. What I can’t hide is that some days are difficult and not so pretty.”
Even though Drew acknowledged that everyone has bad days, she also understands that she is lucky enough to have “solvable problems,” to which her “gratitude is never-ending.” However, she still experiences her moments every now and then. “Sometimes life can just get to you and take you down for a minute! But we cry and then pick ourselves up and put one foot in front of the other,” Drew told her followers.
The photo caught an immense amount of attention, with many fans flooding the comments section. “I think anyone can relate to this, thanks for this powerful post… and wishing the strength to all that has week time and days in their life including me,” one user wrote. “Thank you for your transparency and for your words of encouragement,” another person commented.
This isn’t the first time that Drew has gotten candid with her followers. More than two years ago, the Charlie’s Angels star announced she was divorcing her husband at the time, Will Kopleman. Following the sad news, Drew revealed that she fell into a dark, lonely hole and admitted that it even negatively affected her career.
“I had actually stopped acting for several years because I wanted to raise my kids,” Drew previously said of her daughters, Frankie, 4, and Olive, 6, while on Sunday Today With Willie Geist. “But then a shift happened in my life and I was separating from their father and it was just a very difficult time.”
However, things began to turn around when Netflix picked her up for Santa Clarita Diet. “I definitely personally was in a very dark and fearful place and then this script came along and I was like, ‘Yeah I don’t think this is a good time’ and ironically, I think it taught me a valuable life lesson.” Thanks for always being so real, Drew!
