For many fans of musician Duncan Sheik, his song “Barely Breathing” will be what they remember him for most. What fans may not have realized is that Sheik’s career included much more than that one hit. As a result of his decades’ worth of success in the industry, Sheik’s estimated net worth is believed to be quite impressive.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Sheik built a net worth of approximately $4 million. Some sources, such as Richest Lifestyle, estimate that Sheik’s net worth was higher, perhaps somewhere in the $9 to $12 million range.

In addition to releasing “Barely Breathing” in 1996, which peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, Sheik developed a rock musical titled Spring Awakening, which debuted on Broadway in 2006.

The Broadway show won eight Tony Awards, and Sheik also won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

Sheik released a total of 10 solo albums, which included one concert album, according to Classic Rock History. “Barely Breathing” came from the musician’s first, self-titled album, and the song spent 55 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The last album Sheik released was Claptrap in August 2022.

Spring Awakening wasn’t Sheik’s only notable theater project, either. Music Theatre International notes that he also did music for a handful of other productions, including American Psycho in 2016.

Cine Net Worth shares that in addition to earning money from his own albums and theater ventures, Sheik also cofounded the record label Whydah Records in 2001 and cofounded the online music platform Neurotic Media in 2004.

In addition, Sheik owned a home in New York City as well as a recording studio, along with numerous musical instruments, including pianos and guitars.

Sheik leaves behind a wife, Nora Ariffin, and a daughter, Ines, 7, shared People.
