A wedding is right around the corner for Elton John and David Furnish!

In December 2005, the couple were among Britain's first same-sex couples to tie the knot when civil partnerships became legal.

And now the couple are preparing to mark the occasion by converting their partnership into marriage in a private ceremony on the nine-year anniversary of their civil union, a new report states.

Elton, 67, and David, 52, are allegedly planning to marry in a "small and intimate ceremony" on Dec. 21, 2014 at their sprawling English estate.

"Elton and David have been planning this for months. Elton is flamboyant but, for once, this will be a decidedly low-key affair," their friend told the 'Daily Mirror.'

The couple of 21 years will reportedly include their two sons, Zachary Furnish-John, 4, and Elijah Furnish-John, 23 months — who were both born via the same surrogate mother — as ring bearers during the ceremony.

"It's important to David and Elton the boys play a special part," the friend added.

Though the guest list for the couple's wedding reportedly includes only 50 people, many famous faces — David and Victoria Beckham, Elizabeth Hurley and Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, to name a few — will be in attendance.

"We’re living in extraordinary times. My god, 20 years ago, when I started seeing Elton, if you asked me if I’d be able to get married, if I’d be able to have children, it was unthinkable, literally unimaginable," David told the 'Las Vegas Review-Journal' in March.

Same-sex marriage in the U.K. was officially passed by parliament in March 2014. Under this law, couples who were bound under a registered civil partnership — which was made legal with the Civil Partnership Act in December 2005 — were granted the ability to convert their partnership into a legal marriage.
