Even though there’s an Elton John biopic titled Rocketman being released in May, big-time fans will be able to get even more on the life of the iconic musician after the film — but this time it will be from his own mouth as he will be releasing an autobiography in the fall.

“My life has been one helluva roller coaster ride and I’m now ready to tell you my story, in my own words,” the 71-year-old captioned a video posted on his Twitter on Friday, March 8. “I can’t wait for you to read it because it’s the truth. And so many books that have been written about me haven’t exactly been truthful. I can’t wait for you to see what I have to say about my life.” The book is described as his “first and only official autobiography,” and will be on shelves this October

After more than 50 top 40 hits, over 300 million records sold and a lot of hardware to his name, Sir Elton has plenty of stories to put on a paper, so we’re all interested to see what exactly he will be sharing. We can also expect the Grammy winner to talk about his family — he’s currently married to filmmaker David Furnish and they have two children together, Zachary Jackson, 8, and Elijah Joseph, 6. In fact, the musician took a break from his farewell concert tour in order to host his annual AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles on February 24 and, during the event, revealed he wants to spend more time with his loved ones.

“Family is the most important thing,” the music legend told The Mirror. “I just owe it to those children to be there for them.” And while his sons have seen him perform live before, Elton tries his best not to bring his stage persona home.

“They know what their daddy does, but I never bring Elton home,” he admitted. “They love their daddy’s music, but they also like a lot of other people’s music, so they’re quite grounded as far as that goes.”

We just can’t wait to read more tidbits like this in Elton’s new book!
