It’s over for one of Hollywood’s cutest couples. After 14 years of marriage, Eric Dane, 45, and Rebecca Gayheart, 46, have decided to divorce. “They really tried,” a source told In Touch. “But it just didn’t work any longer.”
The former duo’s biggest priority amid their split will be successfully co-parenting their two daughters, Billie, 7, and Georgia, 6. Rebecca requested joint legal and physical custody as well as spousal support when she filed for divorce on Friday, Feb. 16. The divorce papers cited irreconcilable differences, but the date of their separation is TBD.

This split comes almost a year after the Grey’s Anatomy star took some time off his show The Last Ship for personal reasons. “Eric asked for a break to deal with personal issues,” his rep said in a statement at the time. “He suffers from depression and has asked for a few weeks of downtime and the producers kindly granted that request.”
The pair faced many challenges, including Eric’s addiction to painkillers. “That did affect them,” says the source. In a previous interview, Eric opened up about his addiction. “I was given copious amounts [of pills] to deal with the injury, and being a recovering alcoholic, it wasn’t a great thing to do,” he shared back in 2014. “We’ve all made mistakes. My one regret is that I got the person I love most wrapped up in all that: Rebecca.”
They may have gotten through those tough times in the past, but after 13 years of marriage, they’ve decided to call it quits, and in fact, they’re both looking forward to what’s next. “They’re both excited about carrying on with their lives and seeing what the future holds,” the insider added.
