How sad! On Monday night’s episode of Dancing With the Stars, former child star Frankie Muniz opened up about suffering extreme memory loss and a number of concussions over the years — in addition to mini-strokes. The theme of the night was “the most memorable year.”

“It makes me a little sad. Things pop back into my mind [that] I should have remembered,” the Malcom in the Middle alum explained in his rehearsal video. His former TV dad of six years, actor Bryan Cranston, also elaborated on Frankie’s condition. “They are still [his] experiences. It will be my job, I will tell him, ‘Remember this? Remember that on Malcolm? What a life for you,” the Breaking Bad star explained.

Elsewhere in the tape, Bryan added, “Frankie was a TV star, then he became a race car driver, and a drummer in a rock band. I said to him once, ‘What are you going to be, an astronaut next? You are doing all the things professionally that everybody dreams about.’”

Later in the evening, Frankie further opened up to reporters about their condition. “It’s something I never really talked about,” he admitted. “It’s just my life but we were talking about Malcolm and how it started and I don’t really have memories of being on the show. My memory of being on the show is seeing the episode[s].”

“Over the past 10 years, my mom will bring up things like trips we went on or big events and they are new stories to me. I don’t know what the cause of it is. It’s not something I looked into, I just thought it was how my brain is — so I thought it was normal. I didn’t know I should remember going to the Emmys when I was younger,” Frankie continued, adding his girlfriend, Paige Price, helps out by keeping a journal for him. “I’m not a doctor person. Every time I go to the doctors they just tell me I’m crazy.”

Dancing With the Stars airs on Monday nights at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
