‘General Hospital’ Fans Can’t Stop Talking About This Heartbreaking Goodbye
‘General Hospital’ fans were moved as Cassius Faison said a heartfelt goodbye to young James after being exposed as a fraud impersonating Nathan West in Port Charles.
When General Hospital’s Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) outed Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) as the fraud who had been impersonating his twin brother, Nathan West, for nearly a year, Cassius knew that the jig was up. He was going to have to leave town. However, for a brief few moments, Cassius thought he could get away with taking young James with him. When he realized he couldn’t, the waterworks came.
Cassius Says a Sad Goodbye
When Cassius first arrived in Port Charles pretending to be his presumed-dead brother, he never expected to fall in love with living Nathan’s life. He certainly never expected to grow attached to Nathan’s son, James (Gary James Fuller). Nathan died when Maxie (Kirsten Storms) was still pregnant, so James never knew his dad. When the man he thought was Nathan arrived at the batting cages to hit a few balls, James thought it was another day with his dad and Cody (Josh Kelly).
Instead, Cody listened to his voicemail from Felicia (Kristina Wagner) telling him that Nathan was not who he seemed, so when Cassius tried to take James for ice cream, Cody stopped him and gave Cassius a look. Cassius knew that Cody was well aware of who he really was, so he made the painful decision to tell James he had made some mistakes and had to leave Port Charles. James didn’t understand, which made the scenes so much more heartbreaking for fans.
“Okay, Cassius’ speech to his nephew James really got me!!” one fan said on X.
“From their first meeting, Cass has proven that the love he has for James is very real,” another fan added. I hope that Cass won’t be killed off. I would love for him to come back and be in James’ life.
“Ok these scenes with Cassius and James are messing me up!!” yet another fan concurred.
Other fans were glad that Cassius’ goodbye to his “son” proved he wasn’t all bad and had a heart after all, with one viewer saying, “Love that the TPTB had Cassius run but get the chance to day goodbye to James and let him know his love for him was real. Also that his character didn’t kill anyone or hurt Cody to escape or scare James.”
James wasn’t Cassius’ final goodbye, as he circled back to take care of the prisoners at Wyndemere, but his farewell to James leave fans wanting more Cassius in the future.
