‘General Hospital’ Fans Wonder If This Iconic Character Is Headed Back to Port Charles
Kelly Kruger joins ‘General Hospital’ as Serena Baldwin, sparking fan hopes that Scotty Baldwin will return to Port Charles for his daughter’s homecoming.
With the news that The Young and the Restless alum Kelly Kruger has been cast as General Hospital’s new Serena Baldwin, fans are speculating what kind of story the legacy character will have, who she will be paired with…and if her father will ever make an appearance in Port Charles again.
Where in the World Is Scotty Baldwin?
It’s been nearly two years since anyone in Port Charles has heard from or spoken about Scotty, a character who had been a part of the General Hospital scene since he was a boy in the 1960s. Kin Shriner began playing the role in 1977 and brought Scotty to life on and off until that fateful day in August of 2024, when he practically vanished into thin air.
At the time, Scott was helping longtime pal and sometimes lover, Ava Jerome (Maura West), keep the pharmacist who was paid to switch Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) bipolar meds for a lower dose hostage. Scott left to get some snacks for himself and his prisoner, but when he returned, he realized that Jason (Steve Burton) had caught them, so he hid on a corner. The next thing we knew, Scott was gone and his bag of goodies was on the floor. In the two years since, nobody has even asked where he is.
With Kruger joining the cast as Scott’s beloved daughter, Serena, it seems only natural to see Scotty again. In fact, it would make no sense if Scotty weren’t around for his daughter’s homecoming.
“Can’t have Serena without Scott,” one fan posted on X, accompanied by a photo of Shriner with young Carly Schroeder, who played Serena as a child and last made an appearance as an adult Serena in 2017.
Another fan doesn’t see the point of Serena’s return without Scott, saying, “I think it’s fine that Serena is coming back but if she’s gonna come back, Scotty needs to come back as well. Without Scotty she really has no ties to anyone in Port Charles anymore.”
Other viewers hope this is a new beginning for the Baldwin clan. As one fan noted: “Well it appears General Hospital has cast a new Serena Baldwin in young and the restless favorite Kelly Kruger. Could this mean they’re bringing back Scotty her father and rebuilding the Baldwin family.”
