Glen A. Larson, Creator of ‘Knight Rider’ & ‘Magnum P.I.,’ Dead at 77

Glen A. Larson, an iconic television writer and producer, passed away on Friday, Nov. 14. He was 77-years-old.

Glen was best known for creating hit 1970s and 80s TV shows including Magnum P.I., ‘Alias Smith and Jones,’ ‘McCloud,’ ‘Trauma Center’ and ‘The Fall Guy.’

In 1982, the writer introduced American audiences to the popular television series Knight Rider, which starred David Hasselhoff, Edward Mulhare and Patricia McPherson.

Four years later, Glen again hit ratings gold when he created 'Battlestar Galactica,' a 1978 science fiction series that inspired numerous spin-offs, book adaptations, comic books, video games and even a 2004 TV revival.

In an interview with 'The Associated Press,' Glen's son, James Larson, said the producer died at the UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif., from esophageal cancer.

He is survived by his wife, brother, and nine children.
