Some swear by squats. Others practically live on the StairMaster. But when it comes to keeping things “cheeky,” Haley Mihm has one exercise she puts above the rest.
“If I had to pick one, it’s hip thrusts,” the social media star said in a statement. “They’re not glamorous, but they work. I keep everything controlled, really focus on the squeeze and try to get a little stronger over time.”
Leg day gets plenty of attention, though Mihm says what happens outside the gym matters too.
“You can’t build cake on vibes alone,” she joked about her backside. “You have to eat. I try to get my protein in and make sure I’m not overdoing it. Mostly, I just stay consistent.”
Turns out, she may be onto something.
As Women’s Health fitness editor and certified strength coach Cori Ritchey recently explained, glute gains need fuel. Eating enough calories and protein helps support muscle growth, while noticeable results can take months or even years. In other words, there’s no overnight delivery on “cake.”
Mihm isn’t alone in putting her faith in hip thrusts, either. Victoria Monét and Hailey Bieber have both incorporated variations of the exercise into their routines, while Austin Butler famously did “a ton of hip thrusters” to build a convincing “baseball butt” for Caught Stealing.
Although fitness is a big part of Mihm’s online world, it’s hardly the only thing she shares. Her Instagram mixes swimwear and fashion with plenty of photos that put her curves front and center. On Thursday, she did exactly that, strutting poolside in brown shorts, a white cropped top and thigh-high white socks. “Let’s swim later?” she captioned the post.
Judging by the response in her comment section, finding someone to take her up on the offer shouldn’t be much of a problem. As for keeping things “cheeky,” Mihm already has that part covered.
