No cause of death has been released as of the time of publication.

Panettiere began her professional acting career at the age of 4 on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live, as Sarah Roberts, the niece of the show’s beloved matriarch Viki Lord (Erika Slezak). She continued in daytime, taking part in the CBS series Guiding Light until her exit in 2000.

The actress became a household name in 2006 when she participated in the NBC drama series Heroes as the high school cheerleader Claire Bates.

Earlier this year, the actress released her memoir This is Me: A Reckoning where she opened up about her life and experiences throughout her career in front of the camera and the toll that took on her, her family and friends.

Fans found a tribute that the actress made to her brother, Jansen, last September, writing on Instagram, “My little brother Jansen would’ve turned 31 today. He was a remarkable human being. He was wise beyond his years and operated at a higher spiritual level than anyone I’ve ever met.”
She continued, “He was everything good and pure in this world. I miss him every single day, but I know his spirit is always near, watching over and protecting my family and me.”
The actress concluded her post by saying she loved him “to infinity and beyond,” and she promised her brother that one day they would “be together again.”
