Heather Morris Still Isn’t Over Her ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Elimination — and Has an Interesting Theory on Why She Was Voted Off!
She has a point! Heather Morris recently opened up about her experience competing on Dancing With the Stars — and provided her own theory as to why she was shockingly eliminated from the reality show after receiving the first perfect score of Season 24.
According to the Glee alum, 30, she thinks her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s unexpected calf injury and subsequent hiatus affected viewers’ opinions of the duo. “They weren’t really getting the relationship we were having,” she said during a Tuesday, July 18 interview on the Ladygang Podcast.

Heather — who was temporarily placed with troupe dancer Alan Bersten while Maksim, 37, recovered — added, “They just kind of saw what happened with him and I had to form this new relationship with a new partner. So [the viewers] kind of lost [that relationship]. It lost interest.”
The actress also spoke about the flak she received from fans who thought that it was unfair for her to be cast on DWTS given her prior dance experience. Though she was one of Beyoncé‘s backup dancers in the past, Heather insisted that she knew nothing when it came to ballroom technique.
“They watch it and they want to believe, ‘She’s a dancer, it’s not fair, she knows exactly how to do all those things,’” the mom-of-two — who shares sons Elijah, 3, and Owen, 17 months, with husband Taylor Hubbell — said. “I cannot do ballroom [dancing]. It’s unbelievably hard. It’s so challenging.”

Despite being sent home after only five weeks, Heather was thrilled to return to the DWTS stage for the show’s season finale in May. “That was great,” she said of her last performance on the show. “I was really, really happy about that.”
Back in April, Maksim said that he wished he and Heather had more time on the dance floor before fans voted them off. “I just hope that Heather’s elimination isn’t going to be, like, sort of shoved under the rug,” he said during an interview on SiriusXM’s Conversations with Maria Menounos. “She is an uber-talented person. I just wish that we got to show it.”
