Daphne Oz Left ‘The Chew’ Months Ago and We’re Still Not Over Her Departure

We're still not over it nearly a year later! After six seasons as a co-host on ABC's The Chew, Daphne Oz announced that she was leaving the daytime talk show back in August 2017, but now that the series has been canceled, many fans want to know why she left in the first place. Perhaps she knew it was going to end soon?

The 32-year-old mom is a nutrition author and television host, and the daughter of health advocates Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz. She revealed her departure from the series nine months ago. "It has been an incredible six seasons with the [ABC The Chew] crew, and I am honored to always be a part of this wild family of [five]," Daphne wrote in her caption on Instagram at the time. "Thank you for being the BEST audience, and for spending your lunch time with me."

And her fans were sad to see her go. "All the best in your new adventures. I'll miss you on the show!" one fan wrote in the comments. Another said, "So sad to hear you are leaving but good luck with your family and future ahead."

Daphne married John Jovanovic, an investment fund analyst, in 2010. Together, the couple has three children. Many fans of The Chew were speculating that Daphne's latest pregnancy (she welcomed her third child, daughter Domenica, in early December) was the the catalyst for her exit from the show. She and Jovan also have a daughter Philomena, 4, and son, Jovan, 2.

Despite being successful in many avenues — as an author and TV show host — Daphne's number one love seems to be motherhood, so that may be why she wanted to slow down her career. An important part of embracing her role as parent, Daphne has admitted, is gratitude. "I think you have to be so grateful for any child," Daphne previously told Closer Weekly. "It's a gift and to have a healthy baby is the most incredible thing. I'd love to have more, but if we just have two, I'm happy with that too!"

On Wednesday, May 23, The Chew announced it's officially ending, just a few months after co-host Mario Batali was fired for alleged sexual misconduct. "After seven seasons, 1454 episodes, multiple Emmy nominations and two Emmy Awards, The Chew will cease production at the end of this season but will continue to air as planned until September with all-new episodes airing in June," said the press release, adding that it will be a replaced by a third hour of GMA.

And since Mario and Daphne left, co-host Carla Hall admitted there has been challenges. "Nobody can hide. With three people, you really can’t say, ‘Okay, those four will take care of it,'" she told People. "You have to be engaged and I think we’ve become closer, because even when you have a cooking segment and it’s the three of us, everybody is joining in. It has been so much fun because we’ve had to raise the energy." Here's hoping Daphne will come out with her own show now!
