After more than four decades of marriage, Jeff Bridges and his wife, Susan Geston, are still so in love! While accepting the coveted Cecil B. DeMille award at the 2019 Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 6, the 69-year-old actor sweetly thanked his longtime love for “45 years of love and support” as he’s fulfilled his Hollywood dreams.

“Thank you Hollywood Foreign Press, this is really a wonderful honor. I am so challenged up here because there are so many people to thank, it’s a collaborative art form. I’ve gotta thank some folks. I’ve gotta thank my sweetheart, Sue [Geston], my God, 45 years of support and love. I wouldn’t be up here without you, my dear. And my brother, Beau [Bridges], sister Cindy [Bridges] — your love and support. And how lucky are we to have our folks, man — Lloyd and Dorothy [Bridges]. I’m wearing your [cuff links] dad, they were your dad’s, too,” Jeff began his acceptance speech.

Jeff then expressed his gratitude to a few people who helped shape him into the successful actor he is today. “You know who I gotta mention is Lloyd Catlett, he’s my stand-in. We’ve done close to 70 films together, can you believe that?! He’s the thread through the whole deal. Starting from The Last Picture Show,” he continued. “Speaking of Last Picture Show, I gotta thank my dear friend Peter Bogdanovich, who kicked the whole party off for me, man. I was so blessed to have him start my whole career. Let’s see, well, the brothers, the Coen Brothers, true masters. If I’m lucky, I’ll be associated with ‘The Dude’ for the rest of my life. I feel so honored to be a part of that film, great movie.”

Jeff concluded his speech for the special award by telling the audience, “We’re alive, we can make a difference. We can turn this ship in the way we want to go, man. Toward love, towards creating a healthy planet for all of us.” The Cecil B. DeMille Award is an honorary statue given out each year at the Golden Globes by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to a star who exemplifies “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” Congrats on your big win, Jeff!
