As a future English monarch, it’s no surprise that Kate Middleton wants to follow in Queen Elizabeth‘s regal footsteps. But, according to a new report, Kate’s desire to be just like the 92-year-old Queen extends far beyond royal duties — she wants to have four children just like her famous grandmother-in-law!

“The Queen has four children, so now Kate and [Prince] William will be following in her royal footsteps,” a source told OK! in the magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now. “Kate’s always said she wanted four children.”

Kate and William, both 36, tied the knot in April 2011 and are already parents to three adorable royal tots: Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and Prince Louis, 5 months. Though the Duchess of Cambridge just recently gave birth, the OK! source alleged that Kate and William are totally open to having more kids.

“Kate’s hoping for another girl. She’s telling people, ‘I want Charlotte to have a sister!’ William, however, would love another boy,” the insider gushed.

Another source told Us Weekly, “They are absolutely thrilled with having three [children]. They are soaking up every minute they can. Their dream was always to have three kids. Kate knew she wanted a third not long after having Charlotte, but this time around they seem very content,” the insider shared, adding that when it comes to baby No. 4, Kate and William have often said, “Never say never!”

During another recent interview with Us Weekly, a source close to the couple revealed, “Three [kids] seems to be the magic number — although that’s what William said about the number two after they had Charlotte!”

“She and William have always said they wanted four children to complete their family,” a different source similarly told Life & Style magazine in a recent issue. “Actually, William would like to have five kids — but Kate thinks four is enough!” We can’t wait to see if Kate and William decide to expand their royal family in the future!
