Remember when Kelly Ripa starred as Hayley Vaughan on All My Children? For 11 years, the actress portrayed bad girl Hayley on the hit daytime soap opera — and the role remains one of her most beloved acting gigs today!
Kelly once opened up about her stint on the show to Variety. “The training ground that All My Children provided me was second to none,” Kelly said. “It taught professionalism.”
And even though Kelly met her now-husband, Mark Consuelos, on the show, she still had on-screen husbands, including Alec McIntyre, who was played by Grant Aleksander. “Kelly’s beautiful, funny and full of energy, and it’s easy to not look past that,” he said of his co-star. “But I was taken early on with just how good an actress she is. One of the great joys of working with her is that you could do anything in a scene and she’d respond. I never remember her being in a bad mood or bitching about her storyline.” Grant added, “The nicest thing you can say about anybody is what you can say about Kelly — she’s just a great person. What you see is what you get.”
Kelly, 47, previously shared how upset she was when she learned of the show’s cancellation back in 2011 (she returned for two episodes in 2010 after leaving the show in 2001). “This is like losing a member of your family. All My Children was more than a job — it was my family, ” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was there that I met my husband; it was there when my first two children were born; it was there where I met many of my lifelong friends. It was the greatest training ground ever. I feel heartsick.” Here’s hoping for a reboot — with Kelly in it of course!
