A beautiful soul. Kimberly J. Brown had the honor of sharing a set with icon Debbie Reynolds, and while it’s been almost three years since the legendary actress passed, her costar still remembers her as one incredible human.

The duo starred together in the 1998 Disney Channel classic, Halloweentown — and Kimberly, 34, quickly noticed that the Singin’ in the Rain costar was quite kind. “She made it a point to tell us as kids, ‘Always make time for fans and say hello.’ That has stuck with me over the years,” Kimberly, who played Marnie Piper in the film, revealed to Page Six in an interview. “She appreciated the ability to entertain and make people happy, so she taught me what a gift that was to be able to do that for people.”

Kimberly was just 13 when she won the role of Debbie’s granddaughter in the TV movie. “When you hear you’re going to work with a legend of that magnitude, you never know how this person’s going to be,” the Return to Halloweentown costar explained to the outlet. “But she was the opposite of any kind of stigma. She was warm and gracious and it was such a good example to work with somebody like that and have her impact me so much not only professionally, but personally over the years.”

The Oscar winner passed away on December 28, 2016 at the age 84, just one day after her daughter, actress Carrie Fisher, died. Debbie’s son, Todd, once revealed that his sister’s death was too much for his mother. “The common theory about Mom’s passing was that, after losing Carrie, Debbie Reynolds died of a broken heart. Take it from the son who was there, who knew her better than anyone else on earth — that’s simply not true, Todd wrote in an excerpt obtained by USA Today. “Debbie Reynolds willed herself right off this planet to personally see to it that Carrie would never be alone.”

“That had been her driving force all of Carrie’s life, including having me so that Carrie wouldn’t be an only child, and it continued to be her driving force when Carrie left,” Todd added.
