Congratulations! So many actors and actresses took home so many well-deserved awards at the 2019 Oscars and when Lady Gaga won her first Academy Award for Best Original Song at the star-studded event, it was definitely a moment to remember.

The singer, 32, took the stage with her co-winners Marc Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt, who also co-wrote A Star Is Born, and got very emotional when she was giving her acceptance speech. “If you’re at home and you’re sitting on your couch, all I have to say is this is hard work. I’ve been working for a long time,” she said onstage. “It’s not about winning. What it’s about is not giving up.”

Before Lady Gaga accepted her award, she gave a breathtaking performance with Bradley Cooper at the Academy Awards. The duo performed their hit song “Shallow” from A Star Is Born and at the 2019 Grammys and Lady Gaga noted how grateful she was to star in the film.

“Bradley, I loved singing this song with you,” she said onstage during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. “If I don’t get a chance to say this, I just want to say, I’m so proud to be part of a movie that addresses mental health issues. That’s so important.” To portray Ally in the emotional movie, Gaga previously told Elle magazine that she had to use her own experiences to play a struggling musician who rises to fame.

“For me, in music and acting, I’m always pulling from my past experiences, family dynamics, relationships, pain, happiness, joy,” she said. “The roller coaster ride of my life — how that has kind of created this beautiful disco ball that’s somehow refracted and fractured.”
