Maksim Chmerkovskiy Says Wife Peta Murgatroyd Gets To Decide When They’ll Have Baby No. 2

Having another baby might not be an insane thought for Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his wife, Peta Murgatroyd. The Dancing With the Stars athletes welcomed their first child one year ago and when Maks recently spoke to In Touch Weekly, he said that he’s already warmed up to the idea of having another child. However, when it comes down it, it’s mainly his wife’s decision.

“I don’t know, it’s up to her,” he said. “It’s her timing, it’s her career. But when it’s go time, I’m ready to go.” Maks and Peta named their first son Shai Chmerkovskiy and though Maks loves to spend time with Shai, he wouldn’t mind having a baby girl. Maks said that it’s actually Peta who’s “OK with boys, because Shai is going to be a mama’s boy.” But if they happen to welcome a daughter, then the dancer said, “that’s for me.”

Once Maks and Peta started a family, they realized that some things just weren’t as important anymore because they would rather be taking care of Shai. The couple decided not to return to Dancing with the Stars Season 27 and were dearly missed, but at home, Maks and Peta were loving their time together as a family.

“We now have someone that’s a little bit of her and a little bit of me, and it’s truly a miracle when two people come together and this is a by-product of their love,” he gushed to In Touch, and said that the best part of his day is seeing Shai greet him in the morning.

“He’s running everywhere. He’s very, very active. He’s no longer on the hands,” Maks shared. “He wakes up and we hear him, so instead of going to him, we’re like ‘Hey Shai, come to us.’ That’s the best moment of my morning.”
