Matt Lauer Can Always Count on His 3 Kids for Support — Meet the Former ‘Today’ Host’s Children!

Ever since Matt Lauer was fired from the NBC’s Today due to multiple sexual harassment accusations that were made against him, he’s been relying on his family more than ever. You may not know this because he’s barely photographed with his children, but Matt is a proud dad of three and they mean the world to him.

The 60-year-old TV personality married wife Annette Roque in 1998 and the duo have welcomed three kids together: son Jack, 18, on June 26, 2011; daughter Romy, 16, on October 2, 2003; and son Thijs, 12, on November 28, 2006. He was previously married to Nancy Alspaugh from 1981 until 1988, but they never had any offspring together.

Sadly, Matt’s marriage to Annette ended in July 2019 when their divorce was finalized, having separated two years earlier when allegations against him surfaced. Even though their relationship is through, at least Matt has Jack, Romy and Thijs for support.

Before he was fired from NBC, Matt answered a lot of fans’ questions through a chat that he did with Facebook and in it he revealed how he balances his home and work life.

“It’s a challenge for me just as it’s challenging for everyone else” he said according to Today. “There are times when the schedule of this job interferes with things I want to be a part of at home. I have understanding bosses who let me take time for family events when I need it. Yesterday, for example, I was with my family digging out from the snowstorm.”

Matt also joked that he’s “not famous at home. I’m just Papa.” But that doesn’t mean his sons and daughter weren’t impressed with him when he was on Today. “I’m lucky because I actually get to interview most of the people my kids become obsessed with,” he gushed. “I was a very popular dad when Ariana Grande was on the show last summer.”

The disgraced journalist’s job was so glamorous that his kids would even sneak into some of the concerts at NBC to see their favorite singer perform. “When they have a day off from school, they’ll stop by the show in the morning and I’ll go to breakfast with them after,” he revealed. “And during the summer concert series, if they have a favorite singer performing, they tend to sneak in and mix with the fans.”
