Mayim Bialik Angrily Tweets About Flight Attendant Who ‘Shut the Boarding Gate’ on Her

It doesn’t sound like Mayim Bialik had too great of an experience when it came to catching her United Airlines flight on Sunday, February 10. The actress, who was on the verge of tears, took to Twitter to slam the airline and vent about the awful experience she found herself in.

“To the @UnitedAirlines flight attendant who shut the boarding gate in my face. I made my connecting flight in Houston,” the 43-year-old wrote in a tweet on Sunday night. “It was a tight squeeze but you said there were plenty of open seats. When you saw my carry-on suitcase you said there was no room and shut the door in my face.” Yikes!

In a series of tweets following the initial message she wrote, The Big Bang Theory star questioned why she and her “little suitcase” were rejected from getting onto the flight. The brunette beauty also added that the first-class seat she had paid for “could have held” the carry-on she had or that she “would have gladly sat in all of the open seats anywhere on that plane.”

“There were five other people from my flight standing there with me who [the flight attendant] let on the plane,” Mayim continued online. “Maybe she just doesn’t like The Big Bang Theory. They all had carry-on luggage too.”

Mayim then took to Instagram to further explain the aggravating situation to her concerned followers. “With seven minutes left, she could have made a small effort to try harder since she said there were ‘plenty of seats open,'” she wrote. “Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she hates women who look like they’re about to cry.”

It didn’t take long before fans took to the post’s comments section to share their frustrations, some even adding that they’ve faced similar situations while traveling. “I am so sorry this happened to you. I have only ever experienced misery and migraines at the hands of @united, hang in there,” one fan wrote to the actress who claimed that the crew member shut the door “without even saying” she was sorry.

“I’m so sorry, I’ve had my asthma triggered trying to get from one late flight to the next on-time flight, it’s a horrible feeling. I was left with an already closed gate, however, missed it by seconds. Having it closed in your face is much worse,” said another.

Mayim told her 3.1 million Instagram followers that her suitcase broke “from running so hard and aggressively” in the airport, which also made her asthma “super angry.” She also wrote that she was worried that people would think she was being “a prima donna” for raising concerns about her first-class seat. “I didn’t mean I deserve it more, I meant can my suitcase sit in my first class seat and I’ll sit anywhere else?” she wrote. “Not a good day for me and @united.”

In response to the actress’ airport turmoil, a spokesperson for United Airlines told Us Weekly, “We were able to get Ms. Bialik on the next flight to Los Angeles and we are reviewing what happened with our team in Houston.” At least there was a resolution!
