Melissa Rivers Writes Book Tribute to Late Mother Joan Rivers

Melissa Rivers is paying tribute to her late mother, Joan Rivers, in the most touching way.

The 47-year-old actress is writing a book titled, 'The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief, and Manipulation,' to share comical moments she experienced with her mother, who died last September at age 81.

"In our family we always believed that laughter was the best medicine," Melissa told 'People.' "I wanted to write a book that would make my mother laugh. I hope it makes you laugh, too."

The book — to be published by Crown Archetype — will be packed full of "funny, poignant, and irreverent observations, thoughts, and tales about the woman who raised her," the publishing house said in a statement.

The news comes just three days after Melissa accepted a Grammy award on behalf of her mother for Best Spoken Word Album for the audio recording of her 2014 memoir, 'Diary of a Mad Diva.'

While the 'Fashion Police' producer was delighted with her mother's win, she admitted collecting the posthumous honor was "bittersweet."

"It's a difficult moment," she told Giuliana Rancic on the E! Red Carpet. "It's wonderful how loved she was and how she's getting so much attention now, and people are really understanding what she's about."

'The Book of Joan' comes out on May 5.
