When the 64-year-old was asked about his most memorable moments meeting fans, he revealed, per People, “It wasn’t a fan, but I was at a nightclub. It was a couple sitting behind me. She was a fan of the show and a fan of Jake’s, and she kept paying a lot of attention to me.”
Show continued, “I turned around, and I could tell that her boyfriend was really not very happy about me. I did what I would do, which was introduce myself to him and try to give him a lot of attention.”
The Melrose Place actor reached out to shake the jealous boyfriend’s hands and introduced himself as “Grant.” What happened next? According to Show, “He took my hand, bit it. So I took my hand back.”

In 2021, Show spoke to Entertainment Tonight about his fame and how fans flock to him. “You feel good about yourself, and it makes you feel all special; you also know it’s not you. There’s this thing battling inside you. On one hand, you take it, and it builds your ego. On the other hand, you know it’s not you, so it feels a little dehumanizing.”
While fans may recognize Show as the hunky ’90s idol Jake Hanson who came to Melrose Place via Beverly Hills 90210 (where he had a brief romance with Jennie Garth’s Kelly Taylor), the actor’s resume goes well beyond the Darren Star and Aaron Spelling drama.
Show played Rick Hyde from 1984 to 1987 on the daytime soap opera Ryan’s Hope, Officer Casey Pierce on True Blue, Ben Sanderson on Strong Medicine, Lucas Boyd on Point Pleasant, Tom Decker on Swingtown, James on Accidentally on Purpose, Dr. Archer Forbes Montgomery on Private Practice, Spence Westmore on Devious Maids, and Blake Carrington in the Dynasty reboot.
