She’s opening up. Last month, reports claimed that Olivia Newton-John’s breast cancer had spread to her lower back and fans were concerned about the beloved actress and singer. But now, she’s ready to talk about her cancer battle and she sat down for a very candid interview on Channel Seven’s Sunday Night, and she revealed that this is the third time she had been diagnosed with the disease, because she had secretly battled cancer five years ago.

Olivia, 69, explained that she had gotten into a minor car accident back in 2013 when she noticed that she had a lump on her right shoulder, according to the Daily Mail. At first, she thought she had just hurt herself in the accident, but after she underwent testing, she learned that her cancer had returned. She revealed why she decided to keep that second diagnosis a secret. “I thought ‘It’s my life,’ and I just decided to keep it to myself,'” she said.

The Grease star was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, but she became a survivor as she beat the disease and had been cancer-free for almost two decades until her second diagnosis. She would eventually go on to beat that second bout of cancer back in 2013, but it returned last year after doctors found another tumor at the base of her spine. She was forced to cancel a series of concerts back in May 2017 and at first, Olivia told fans that it was because of her sciatica. It was later revealed that the real reason was because her cancer had returned.

Olivia’s interview comes just a few weeks after multiple reports claimed that Olivia’s cancer had spread. But even though she confirmed that she is still treating the disease, Olivia isn’t allowing herself to give in to fear and she’s trying to remain positive with the support from her loving husband, John Easterling.

“I don’t go there. I’d be lying if I said I never go there — there are moments, I’m human,” Olivia said. “So if I allow myself to go there, I can easily create that big fear. But my husband is always there and he’s always there to support me, and I believe I will win over it. That’s my goal.”
