Patricia Clarkson Only Had Her Dog To Celebrate Golden Globe Nomination With

Getting a Golden Globe nomination must be quite the fantastic feeling for any celebrity that receives one, but Patricia Clarkson didn’t exactly have an entire brigade of people to celebrate with when she learned she was up for the award.

The 59-year-old actress was recently at the 6th Annual “Gold Meets Golden” brunch in Hollywood. The event is all about reeling in celebrities with athletes and Olympians. While there, Patricia was asked if she could talk about the moment she learned she was up for a Golden Globe, and who she was with. “Where was I? I was home in bed with my dog,” Patrica told Closer. Well, here’s hoping the dog was happy for her.

We bet the dog was even happier when Patricia won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her incredible work on Sharp Objects on Sunday, Jan. 6. In the series, Patricia plays Camille Preaker, the mom of Amy Adams‘ character.

“Hot damn,” Patricia began in her acceptance speech. “It’s a privilege to be here tonight.” She added, “This really is for my extraordinary mother and father. And I share this with you mom and dad, in New Orleans. Cheers!”

Before taking home the award, Patricia spoke about what she was planning to do if she and Amy, who was also nominated for her role on the HBO show, won. “If Amy and I, oh we’ll have lots of wine.” We imagine there was a lot of wine poured last night!

Sharp Objects was one of the biggest hits of the summer. Early last month, Patricia sat down with Awards Daily to discuss her character on the show, as well as Amy and co-star Eliza Scanlen’s characters too.

“It is three women that are not wonder women,” Patricia said. “Three women–and we have our flaws. It’s valuable to tell the stories about imperfect women as it is to tell those of heroic women. They all have value. I was thrilled to be part of a miniseries that was written by a woman, produced by women, starring women. I’m overwhelmed.”
