Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Will Return for Season 24 of ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Talk about a power couple!

New parents Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy announced on Tuesday, Feb. 21 they will be returning for Season 24 of Dancing With the Stars — and we can hardly wait to see the engaged couple back in the ballroom together!

"It's been some time, I'm definitely a little bit nervous, but I'm very excited to get back. I've definitely missed the dance floor," Peta, 30, confessed on Good Morning America.

The duo's big announcement comes nearly two months after they welcomed their first child, a baby son named Shai, together on Jan. 4.

"I just want to be healthy," Peta said of her post-baby figure, adding that it may take some time for her to get back to how she was. "I think it's going to be OK. I'm going to take it slowly. Hopefully, I have an awesome partner to go through this with."

While Peta had to sit out of Season 23 due to her pregnancy, she took home the Mirror Ball Trophy during Season 22 with her partner, Nyle DiMarco. The last time Peta and Maks appeared on the same season was number 18, where Maks took home the title with Meryl Davis. However, he also appeared on the show's last season with Amber Rose, who recently split from his brother and pro dancer, Val Chmerkovskiy, after a few months of dating.

Maks, 37, opened up about the only negative aspect of his return to the popular dance competition, which is not spending every second with his little boy. "This is the only difficult part about coming back on the show this time because it will just take time away from being with this dude, but like I said I just want to make her coming back and winning as difficult as possible," he joked of facing off against his soon-to-be wife.

This news comes as a surprise to fans considering Maks recently revealed he had "zero interest" in coming back to the show once he became a dad. "First of all, like I've already said, I'm having the best time of my life on DWTS. It's a known fact. I've said it," he revealed in October 2016. "Having said that, I'm telling you right now I have zero interest in coming back as a dancer [next season]."

"I'm going to have a newborn baby. I have zero want to do this. I promise you that," Maks continued. "Trust me, I really don't care how this comes across, but there's no money on the planet that can replace me missing out the three, four, five months of my baby's life. Zero chance," he added. "I can't wait for all of this, diapers, and all of this stuff. I can't wait for Peta to pursue her goals and whatever and I just want to be a stay-at-home dad."
