Pierce Brosnan’s Children Mean Everything to Him! Meet the Actor’s Blended Family With Wife Keely
The name’s Bond, James Bond — well, at least on TV. But when Pierce Brosnan is around his family, he’s known as “Dad.” The Irish-American actor is famous for his memorable films and charming persona, but he’s even more dedicated to being the father of his five children: Sean Brosnan, Chris Brosnan, Dylan Brosnan, Paris Brosnan and late daughter Charlotte Brosnan.
The Die Another Day star has been married twice in his life. His first marriage was with actress Cassandra Harris, whom he wed in 1980. The pair had one child, Sean, in 1983, and the Mrs. Doubtfire star became the dad of Cassandra’s older kids, Charlotte and Chris, having adopted them following their nuptials.
Sadly, Pierce became a single father when Cassandra died in 1991 following a battle with ovarian cancer. Despite being heartbroken over Cassandra’s death, he stayed strong for their family and eventually, Pierce fell in love with his second spouse, Keely Shaye Smith.
The Golden Globe nominee and Keely tied the knot in 2001 and expanded his brood when they welcomed their sons, Dylan and Paris. Though there isn’t a day that goes by that Pierce doesn’t think of Cassandra, he’s thankful to have created such a beautiful life with the Poisoning Paradise actress.
“You have to trust and follow your heart, and try to meet the best people in life,” Pierce once exclusively told Closer about finding love again. “When Keely looks at me, I go weak. I love her vitality, her passion. She has this strength that I wouldn’t be able to live without.”

If it weren’t for Keely, Pierce wouldn’t be the father of his younger boys. Because the brunette beauty is such a good role model, he’s grateful to have Keely as the mother of his children. “I’m one of those guys who believes you need a strong woman in your life,” he gushed. “I found a great woman in Keely … Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good.”
While most of their days are filled with happy times, Pierce is reminded of his darker days every now and then. “I don’t look at the cup as half-full, believe me,” he said, referring to the losses in his life. “The dark, melancholy Irish black dog sits beside me from time to time.”
But when it comes down to it, Pierce is, of course, all about his family — especially his kids. “Being a father is a huge responsibility, but it’s a satisfying one,” he marveled to Closer.
