1997

One of Ben’s breakthrough roles came in 1997’s Good Will Hunting, in which he starred alongside Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Stellan Skarsgård and Minnie Driver. He cowrote the film with longtime friend Matt, earning an Academy Award for Best Screenplay – Written Directly for the Screen.

1998

Ben and Matt won big at the 1998 Oscars ceremony, proving that the friendship between the two A-list actors was made to last.

“I just said to Matt, losing would suck and winning would be really scary. It’s really, really scary. We’re just really two young guys who were fortunate enough to be involved with a lot of great people whom it’s incumbent upon us to thank,” Ben said during the acceptance speech.
