A Thanksgiving service honoring the late Princess of Wales is being considered for 2027, with royal insiders reportedly hoping the event could help bring the estranged brothers together.
King Charles III has apparently “raised no objection” to the proposed service, according to Daily Mail columnist Ephraim Hardcastle.

The publication’s Richard Eden also reports that a source has confirmed that an event involving both William, 44, and Harry, 42, is being “seriously considered.”
“This would be an inspirational way to remember Diana,” the source said. “William could celebrate his mother’s life by giving a reading.”
The source added that participating in the service would be “far more dignified” for William than appearing in a television documentary that could be seen as competing with a project spearheaded by his younger brother. “And it would also serve to bring the brothers together,” the source added.
The potential service comes as Harry considers his own plans to commemorate the milestone anniversary of Diana’s death on August 31, 2027.
According to Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex is considering making a television documentary about his mother and has reportedly approached some of Diana’s friends and relatives about participating.
However, a spokesperson for Harry stressed that no final decision has been made.
“The duke has discussed a number of possible projects,” the spokesperson told the outlet. “Nothing has been finalised or confirmed, and he is still considering the most meaningful way to honour his mother’s legacy during this important anniversary year.”

William, meanwhile, has received several offers to appear in a separate television program about Diana but is not expected to take part, the Daily Mail reports.
Kensington Palace declined to reveal how William intends to commemorate the anniversary, telling Eden: “We wouldn’t comment on how the Prince of Wales will mark the anniversary.”
Tensions between the brothers have long been simmering. As Closer previously reported, William is said to be skeptical about Harry and wife Meghan Markle‘s future in the U.K., with a source claiming he’s even taking bets on how long they’ll last before returning to Montecito, California.
“William doesn’t believe they’ll even last another six months,” the source revealed. “He’s counting on them giving up and moving back to America as soon as they realize they can’t just bulldoze their way into getting everything they want.”
