Rita Wilson is sharing the secret to her 38-year marriage to Tom Hanks — and it will probably surprise people.
During an interview with People published on Tuesday, May 5, Wilson, 69, revealed that she believes their marriage is stronger than ever because they still share a bathroom.
“That’s where you download everything,” the actress and singer, who recently released her new album Sound of a Woman, explained. “That’s where you download the day. You laugh about what you’re doing. In the mornings, you’re thinking about, ‘What are you doing today? Where are you going to be? Great, I want you there.’”
While she admits her advice is funny, she also says it’s true — with a small caveat.

“You have to be able to communicate to each other the things that are changing in your life — and also the things that are still staying the same so that you’re always working together for the greater good,” she added.
In addition to the daily chat-fest in their bathroom, Wilson also offered up some more traditional marriage advice to people.
“You never go to bed mad,” the Now and Then star said. “I heard that early, early on, and I thought, ‘That’s actually really good.'”
“You don’t want to wake up in the morning and have that lingering feeling,” Wilson added. “So whatever it is, resolve it before you go to bed.”
Wilson shares sons Chet, 35, and Truman, 30, with her longtime husband, 69. She is also stepmom to actor Colin, 48, and writer E.A., 43, who Hanks shares withSamantha Lewes.
Hanks and Wilson got hitched in 1988 after meeting on the set of the ABC series Bosom Buddies seven years prior.
