Late last month, after more than 20 years of marriage, Robert De Niro and Grace Hightower decided to call it quits, with a source revealing that the pair was “not living together at this time.” But like with any divorce, the more time that passes by the more information we all get, and a new report is now revealing that money may be the reason the couple called it quits.

A source tells Life&Style that the 75-year-old Oscar winner was not happy at all that Grace was spending all of his money left and right. “She was spending his money like there was an endless supply,” the source said, adding, “Bobby’s definitely made some movies just to pay the bills.” Well now, you see that makes sense. We can just take a look at Robert’s most recent films and see that that bit of information may be completely accurate. Remember Dirty Grandpa? We unfortunately do.

The source also adds this: “It might cost him a pretty penny now, but a divorce may actually leave Bobby with a retirement fund.” Even though this divorce may cost Robert quite a bit, we aren’t exactly concerned about his retirement fund. We are more concerned with the fact that Dirty Grandpa may get a sequel eventually. And no, we will never get over how much of a travesty that film is.

Robert did recently comment on his divorce, telling Us in a statement: “Grace and I have two beautiful children together,” Robert said. Robert and Grace are parents to two children: 20-year-old Elliot and six-year-old Helen. “We are entering a period of transition in our relationship, which is a difficult but constructive process,” Robert continued, adding, “I honor Grace as a wonderful mother and ask for privacy and respect from all as we proceed to develop our roles as partners in parenting.”

Well after learning about this new report, we guess this means Robert may not be interested in helping Grace develop her role as his personal spender.
