Fans Still Don’t Understand Why Sandra Oh Left ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

For fans of the long-running ABC drama Grey’s Anatomy, the show may feel a little incomplete. That’s because fan-favorite Sandra Oh left after 10 years on the series after Season 10. Following her departure, she explained what it felt like to leave and who she is going to miss the most from the cast.

“The one line that was the most filled for me was when Cristina says, ‘You and I, Mer, we’re not finished.’ At the wrap party, they showed the famous scene where Cristina asks Meredith to be her person,” Sandra told The Hollywood Reporter. “From that to the point where Cristina is saying, ‘You and I are not finished,’ is like the two sides of one coin. Their love is like that. I felt very fulfilled with Cristina saying goodbye to Meredith.”

When asked if she’ll miss seeing her co-stars every day, she sighed and said, “I can’t even talk about it now because there’s still a lot more work to be done. But it really makes my heart full and heavy at the same time.”

Although the exit of her character Christina surely affected everyone on the show, there is one person in particular who will feel her loss the greatest: Kevin McKidd who played her onscreen husband Owenn Hunt. Sandra, who describes her co-star as “dreamy,” said that not being able to work with him every day will be “extremely difficult.”

“We’ve spent a lot of time together and as we’ve gone through ups and downs as Christina and Owen, we’ve really bonded,” she revealed. But, she is excited about her future career moves. “I’m actually looking forward to going back to different mediums, films, and theater,” she shared, though she was “very, very sad” to leave.

But, recently Kevin revealed that Cristina might make a return to the show. “I hope she will,” he admitted. “I think it would be so much fun. It would open up so much again in the story and mix everything up. Owen, wherever he is in his life, would have incredible stories. She’s just such an amazing actor. I still miss her to this day.”
