Scott Eastwood on Dad Clint Eastwood: ‘He Didn’t Care if I Became a Plumber or an Actor’

Though his dad is one of Hollywood's most iconic movie stars, Scott Eastwood says his father, Clint Eastwood, never pushed him to follow his famous footsteps.

"To be honest, he didn’t care if I was a plumber or if I was an actor. He just said, 'Whatever you do, do it well. Be humble, work hard and be a man,'" the 28-year-old 'Fury' star revealed in a new interview.

"I think when I was younger, like in high school or whatever, I probably thought I was too cool to follow in his footsteps or maybe I just thought girls were more important. But then I realized, 'This is a great life — I want to do this. So I better figure it out," he added.

Scott — whose mom is Clint's ex-girlfriend, Jacelyn Reeves — made his film debut in 2006's 'Flags of Our Fathers.' Though the flick was both directed and produced by his dad, 84, the young star chose to use the name Scott Clinton when first starting out in showbiz to individualize himself from his well-known surname.

"I just wanted to see if I could do it on my own. You realize sort of quickly [the last name] doesn’t really matter! If you don’t work, if you don’t hustle, you’re not going to get anywhere, whatever your name," he explained.

"When I was younger, I thought that was a big thing. I had a lot of pride. I wanted to earn [my acting career] on my own merit and not have people say it’s because of a name. But the reality is people are going to say whatever the f*** they want anyway! You can’t control that. At some point you say, 'F*** it. That’s my dad’s last name, that’s my legacy,'" he told 'Treats!' magazine.
