General Hospital’s Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) has been through it all, undergoing various personality changes as she’s drifted from career to career and persona to persona. The current iteration of Willow is a little bit crazy, which makes for some messy storytelling. It was one year ago this month when Willow’s life changed in an unimaginable way, resulting in the hot mess congresswoman we see today.
‘General Hospital’s’ Willow Loses Her Kids
It’s hard to forget the epic courtroom outburst that occurred when Willow learned she had lost custody of her kids and might not even receive visitation rights. Willow melted down in front of the judge, her mother, and Michael (Rory Gibson), the ex-husband who would now be the only parent Wiley and Amelia would see. She didn’t even comprehend the ruling at first and felt it had to be a mistake.
After frantically begging the judge to reconsider, Willow collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. When she came to by herself in the ER with a start, it was apparent that Willow had changed. The Willow fans have seen over the course of the last year has been nothing like the sweet schoolteacher turned sweet nurse who grew up in a not-so-sweet sex cult.
The moment Willow lost her kids turned her into a manipulative criminal who shot a man, married him anyway, cried her way to an acquittal, and then injected him with a paralytic drug that mimicked a stroke within hours of the jury reading the verdict. The current Willow is still trying to find a way out of the mess she created on her own while waxing nostalgic for her first husband.
Would Willow have shot Drew (Cameron Mathison), given him a fake stroke, and even considered sleeping with Chase (Josh Swickard) while he is married to Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton), had her children not been taken from her? Maybe, maybe not, but that moment was the catalyst that led to Willow’s wild and wacky year.
General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams each weeknight on Hulu.
