The Marlena-Stefano Twist ‘Days of our Lives’ Fans Can’t Stop Talking About
‘Days of our Lives’ fans react to hints that Marlena Evans may share a child with Stefano DiMera, sparking debate over the controversial storyline twist.
Days of Our Lives’ Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) has had no worse enemy in her life than Stefano DiMera, a man who had tortured her and her family for more than four decades. Stefano’s obsession with Marlena is legendary, as his proclivity to have various rectonned, long-lost children show up every few years.
Although Stefano has not been seen on screen for more than 10 years and his portrayer, Joseph Mascolo, passed away on December 8, 2016, the character was only laid to rest this year. Now, another long-lost Stefano offspring has turned up in the form of mystery man Dominic Marino, with DAYS hinting toward Marlena being Dominic’s mother.
While Marlena doesn’t have this news yet, the latest DAYS promo was enough to have fans up in arms over just the idea of Stefano and Marlena sharing a child.
“I hope there is a twist coming up,” one fan wrote on X. “It’s disgusting to think that Marlena might of had a child with Stefano.”
“Marlena deserves peace,” another fan noted. “She deserves to be free of Stefano. I believe and hope that whoever Dominic belongs to, Marlena and Stefano are not the parents. That’s a story that should never be told.”
Other fans hope there’s a twist, noting that a birth certificate means nothing.
“I doubt the birth certificate. It’s only a piece of paper,” another fan wrote on Reddit. “If he is Stefano’s son, the writers really couldn’t come up with a better storyline than Stefano’s 9th retconned child? He doesn’t need 10 biological children.”
Several years ago, General Hospital did the same type of story when Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) was revealed to have a child with Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). Fans were so outraged, that the story was later changed and Anna’s sister, Alex, turned out to be Peter’s (Wes Ramsey) mother.
In the DAYS case, many fans hope that Marlena is Dominic’s mother, but wish for someone else be his father.
As this viewer theorizes: “My long story theory for Dominic Marino: he’ll initially be believed to be a Marlena/Stefano child, but will end up being a Jarlena baby Stefano raised to turn against Marlena and John.”
