There is a reason Tim McGraw has hit the gym and transformed his body in the past couple of years, and it is all about being healthy for his family.

“Here’s the truth of it – I was not taking care of myself. I was leaning on the success that I’ve had,’ the 52-year-old admitted to ET. “My family is counting on me.”

“I want to see my kids grow up, I want to be able to spend time with my grandkids,” the country star revealed to the outlet. “I want to take them diving and spearfishing, all those things that I want to do with my grandkids.” The musician and his longtime wife, Faith Hill, share three kids — daughters Gracie, 22, Maggie, 20, and Audrey, 17.

Tim continued and explained that he had a lot of loved ones in his life who needed him to get healthy. “All the people who work really hard for me and count on me to show up – I wasn’t doing that,” he confessed. “And I thought that if I want to have a long career and I want to be in this position for a long time, it’s easy to bail out now. And I don’t want to bail out.”

Now that he’s feeling and looking great, Tim of course has had no problem showing off the results — he recently took to Instagram to show off a post-fishing photo … while shirtless. “Yellow fin grouper, 1st one!” the “Live Like You Were Dying” singer captioned the pic. “36 ft down. Pole spear … free dive.”

The hitmaker will be releasing a book soon — Grit & Grace: Train the Mind, Train the Body, Own Your Life — which will chronicle the changes in his life. “I’ve gone through a physical transformation in the last 10 years, but it’s not just my appearance that has changed,” Tim told People. “My mind is clearer, my sense of purpose is sharper and my relationships are deeper. Consistent physical exercise helps me bring focus to my life and to the people who mean the most to me.”

It’s so fantastic to see the wonderful change that Tim has done!
